Information about Texas Birth Records: Chapter 1192 (Senate Bill No. 861), 78th Legislature, Regular Session (2003) took effect on September 1, 2003. A birth record now becomes public information and available to the public on and after the 75th anniversary of the date of birth as shown on the record filed with the Bureau of Vital Statistics or local registration official.

• Birth certificates cost $22
• Heirloom birth certificates cost $60.
• To see an example of the heirloom birth certificate, please click here. Heirloom birth certificates can be ordered through the Texas Department of Health - Bureau of Vital Statistics.
• Certified copies ($22) can also be bought in the Nueces County Courthouse from the Nueces County Clerk.
• Orders can also be made online through Texas Online
• Orders take 10 to 15 business days to complete
• A copy of a photo id (drivers license, student id, military id) must accompany request either through mail or in-person.
• If you live in Texas you can order your own & immediate family member's birth certificates.
• If you live in another state or country, you can only order your own and child(s) if you are listed on the certificate.
