Where We Are
Denton County is in the north central area of Texas, north of the Dallas-Fort Worth megaplex. The county seat is alo named Denton and both are named for John B Denton who came to Texas in 1837 as a Methodist circuit rider and was killed in the Village Creek Indian fight May 24, 1841, under the direction of Brigadier-General Edward H. Tarrant. The counties around us - starting in the northwest and going clockwise - are Montague, Cooke and Grayson counties in the north, Collin County on the east side, Dallas, Tarrant and Parker counties in the south and Wise County is to the west of us.
